Effect of Otago Exercise on Indicators of Sarcopenia in the Elderly

This study was conducted to determine the effect of Otago exercise intervention on muscle mass, strength, and physical performance, which are diagnostic indicators sarcopenia, in elderly individuals aged 65 or older. The final subjects included 6 walking group 5 people group. Walking exercises were 12 times a week for 22 minutes at time more than 80 steps per minute whereas four 50 minutes, total under supervision senior movement leader. After intervention, evaluation sarcopenia performed, before after intergroup skeletal mass (ASM), grip force (Hand Grip), SPPB compared. three parameters related function showed that each exhibited an increase limb SMI. resulted decrease but this metric. score increased group, no statistically significant results obtained. It demonstrated positively affects index loss elderly, is potentially effective preventing managing sarcopenia.
